Work with me

Ready to perfect your manuscript?

Author clients:

I help authors prepare for publishing by editing and proofreading their manuscripts meticulously and efficiently.

You’ve written your romance novel, and now, it’s time to prepare for publishing.  The last thing you want is to have glaring errors that are only discovered by readers after publication.  Let’s work together to eliminate mistakes before you publish instead!

Content Editing

An edit focusing on full story line organization and continuity, character arcs, and brand voice.

In this editing stage, manuscripts are examined for:

This is a one-pass review solely focused on content development.

This service alone does not take the place of a line edit or a copyedit. If you request a copy and line edit, as well, these two services are billed separately.

Line Editing and Copyediting

Though these two terms are commonly used interchangeably, these two editing processes differ. I will review manuscripts for both line and copyediting issues.

In this intensive, dual-stage edit, manuscripts are examined for:

This dual-stage editing process includes two passes. Allow 7-10 days with the editor, per pass. (Editing turnaround times may vary based on word count and author turnaround time between passes.)

Note: One-pass edits are available upon request. If opting for a one-pass edit, I strongly encourage the use of a trained proofreader to follow the edit.

Special Note: At times, a manuscript requires a high level of copy and line editing due to the number of revisions made, sentence rewrites, or other corrections required. At this point, the editor may reach out to the author to advise that a higher editing level is needed and discuss how to proceed. If the author wishes to proceed with the heavy edit, the editing rate will increase based on the level of edit required.

Proofreading

Occurring after all editing changes have been made, this is the final read through of manuscript prior to formatting.

In this stage, manuscripts are examined for:

Proofread in Microsoft Word with Track Changes

Special Note: The proofreading stage is to catch errors that were missed during an intensive line and/or copyediting stage. It is NOT a second line or copyedit. If the proofread is extensive and becomes a copyedit, you will be charged at the copyediting rate. This service should not be requested until your manuscript has been fully edited.

Combination Editing Services

> Line Editing, Copyediting, and Proofreading

This combination service includes all aspects of the line and copyedit (two passes unless otherwise requested) with a return to the author between the first and second pass.

Following the editing process, a full read through of the entire manuscript will be done for final proofreading.

This combination service includes three full passes in total. Allow 7-10 days with the editor, per pass.

Times may vary based on word count and author turnaround time between passes. It is highly suggested that a break of 1-2 weeks occurs between final editing pass and proofreading pass if the author’s schedule allows. This will help the editor come back to the manuscript with fresh eyes.
